A number of people who both live and work at Brooksby Village have received the Mass Aging 2006 Community Service Award for their work the past few years in El Salvador.

This past year, Nelda Quigley; director of resident life; Gerry Donovan, who lives at Brooksby; and Francisco J. Lopez, who works as a service coach traveled to El Salvador with a number of others to help after a year of hurricanes, mudslides, a volcano eruption, and an earthquake.

‘Strong friendships’
“What an honor,” says Nelda. “I have been on this trip a number of times and to now be recognized for the work we do is wonderful. We all work well with those from El Salvador and we’ve built strong friendships,” says Nelda. “It makes it a wonderful experience.”
