PEABODY, MA – After walking an average of 45 minutes per day for a month, people who live at Brooksby Village took first place in the Erickson Walking Challenge.
After four weeks of walking to compete in the challenge, 11 percent of the people who live at Brooksby Village came out with the highest average of walking minutes to tie for first place.
“The residents walked an average of 1,520 minutes per person during the month,” said Rick DiScipio, wellness coordinator, Brooksby Village. “We may have tied this year but this is the fifth year in a row people who live at Brooksby Village have come in first place. Once again the trophy belongs to us!”
Sixty people who work at Brooksby Village also competed in the walking challenge. As a team, the staff walked over 85,000 minutes.
Paul Weinburg, restaurant manager at Brooksby Village, earned the top walking award for the staff. Weinburg walked an impressive 4,960 minutes in one month.
People who live at Brooksby Village competed against 11 other Erickson communities.
