Wellness is a positive approach to life and health involves the “whole” person— a healthy balance of the mind, body, and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being.
Barbara Morin, who lives at Brooksby Village, dedicates herself daily to maintaining a healthy balance in life through exercise, committing relentlessly to volunteering, always displaying a witty demeanor and positive attitude, and upholding a strong spiritual belief. This healthy balance helps Barbara live a total wellness lifestyle.
Persistence and Commitment
As a result of her persistence and commitment to fitness and living the wellness lifestyle, Brooksby Village Fitness Ccenter recently named Barbara “Member of the Month.” Barbara, who moved to Brooksby from Marblehead three years ago, has always kept active and very busy. She did water aerobics for 10 years at the JCC (Jewish Community Center), studied holistic health for 20 years, and was a yoga instructor. Barbara also spent 32 years as a teacher, was a former restaurant owner, and currently is a chaplain.
Improved Health
In addition to the fully equipped Fitness Ccenter, Barbara is also taking advantage of the variety of fitness classes offered on campus. “The classes are great! I love the camaraderie that the classes offer. We help each other out and have fun at the same time,” she says. “Eexercise has helped me tremendously in maintaining my present fitness. I am a lot healthier since I moved to Brooksby. I enjoy life with my friends and family.”
Beyond the Fitness Routine
Barbara displays generosity daily with her relentless volunteer work. She is a Eucharistic minister and lector at mass. Beyond her spiritual volunteer duties, Barbara is also is a hospice volunteer for the Hospice North Shore. “I love to volunteer,” says Barbara. “I get so much out of it—I truly receive more than give.”
