Mary Ahern Pursues a New Passion

Whatever Mary Ahern decides to do, she does it with great enthusiasm. After working on one of the most successful cultural magazine series in the history of television, Mary is now working on her personal wellness at Brooksby’s on-site Fitness Center—and having a lot of fun.

New research by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign suggests that exercise not only benefits the body, but it also benefits the mind too, with short and long-term beneficial effects on improving brain function and cognition.

‘The Staff Is Incredible’
"The classes have done so much for me—I lost 15 pounds! What the Fitness Center offers here is great and the system in place is terrific. It really makes you wonder how they do it. And the staff is incredible," says Mary.

The Brooksby Fitness Center staff is equally impressed with Mary, both for her commitment to fitness and for her impressive career in television. Among Mary’s accomplishments are having worked on The Omnibus Variety Show, a live show from New York City that was hosted by Alastair Cooke of Masterpiece Theatre fame. Mary produced features on music, history, and theater for Omnibus, including a series of programs with Leonard Bernstein.

First Curator
Mary was also the first curator at the Museum of Television and Radio and helped to drastically increase the holdings of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division at the Library of Congress.

Since moving to Brooksby, Mary has eagerly taken advantage of the vast array of exercise programs offered by the Fitness Center. "The professionalism of the Fitness is excellent…you really feel as if you accomplished something when exercising," says Mary.
