Brooksby was recently recognized as a family friendly workplace by the American Association of University Women. The award was given at a ceremony at the North Shore Community College in Danvers. The public was invited to attend the ceremony honoring Brooksby and other family friendly workplaces.
Nominated by Residents
What makes this award even more special is that it wasn’t a person who works at Brooksby, but someone who lives at Brooksby that nominated Brooksby for the award.
"I went to a branch meeting of the North Shore AAUW. They were discussing their family friendly workplace awards. i said to myself, that award would be perfect for Brooksby, so Isubmitted the application," says Marge Hensley, who lives at Brooksby.
"We are really proud that we have been recognized for this award. We know that if we take great care of our employees at Brooksby, then our employees will in turn take great care of those that live here," says Joan Carr, Brooksby’s executive director.
‘Healthier Families and Communities’
According to a recently published AAUW Educational Foundation report, workplaces that provide family-friendly benefits, not only help support working women, but also contribute to the growth of healthier families and communities.
These benefits include health insurance, quality family care options, alternative sick leave options, on-the-job training, educational support and other policies that help balance work and home life.
