THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
The spirit and essence of Brooksby Village was featured on Cape Cod earlier this year.
Eleanor Ferri Jones, a nationally renowned artist specializing in still life and landscape works who lives at Brooksby, exhibited a series of paintings at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, Mass., entitled “Life in Brooksby Village.”
The paintings were part of a one-month exhibit this past spring which included portraits of people, apartments, and landscapes of the Peabody community.
“I did a series of very colorful, very happy portraits of Brooksby,” Jones says.
The Cape Cod Museum of Art is a primary center of culture and artistic expression in Massachusetts. Located at the Cape Cod Center for the Arts, the museum contains seven galleries, a sculpture garden, educational facilities, and a reference library. The museum also hosts seminars, instructional programs, and special events.
Brooksby as muse
Jones says she has painted life at Brooksby since moving there and has thoroughly enjoyed it.
“I love my apartment home and even convinced my sister to live here too,” says Jones, who lives in a two bedroom home with her second bedroom turned into an art studio. At your first step into Jones’ apartment, museumquality works of art surround you and it’s clear you’re in the home of an accomplished artist.
Jones was educated at Boston University and the Boston Museum School. A long-time member of the Copley Society of Boston, she attended scores of classes and workshops with nationally renowned artists. Jones has earned more than 100 awards in regional competitions, including the Leo Dielh Prize and the Yankee Magazine Sagendorph Award. She is a member of the North Shore Arts Association, Cape Cod Art Association, and Yarmouth Art guild.
Jones was one of 34,000 American artists profiled in the 2005 edition of The Artists Bluebook.
