Pets: People love them as a part of their family. And the people who live and work at Brooksby Village recently celebrated pets, as well as other animals of all shapes and sizes, at the first annual week-long event, “All Creatures Great and Small.”
“I love animals, so when someone at Brooksby suggested an event to celebrate pets, I was thrilled,” says Nancy Duffy, senior community services manager at Brooksby. “We planned a number of events so everyone with or without pets can enjoy themselves,” says Duffy.
The highlights included a short talk by a local veterinarian about lyme disease and pet insurance, along with a question and answer period; a day where vendors came out to showcase their latest animal gadgets; two presentations by the Blue Hills Trailside Museum; and the movie March of the Penguins was shown along with A Day in the Life of a Shelter Employee, presented by Northeast Animal Shelter.
The final day was a live animal show where residents and their families got to interact with exotic and unusual animals. “The event was a great success. We had a great turnout,” says Duffy.
