Brooksby Village and Yamaha Partner Together Sunday, January 01, 2006
Most people who are not musicians wonder what it would be like to play a musical instrument. Brooksby residents no longer have to wonder because they now have the opportunity to learn how to play the piano.
A new program from Yamaha is bringing the joy of musical discovery to people in their own communities in a remarkable new way that includes all the fun, but none of the tedium of traditional lessons. Over 100 Women Attend Red Hat Society Event Sunday, January 01, 2006
Over 100 women who live at Brooksby Village attended a Red Hat Society chapter event. The ‘Brooksby Belles,’ a group of over 100 women at Brooksby, celebrated their second birthday.
“Two years ago we started with over 50 women and now we have over 100 in our chapter here at Brooksby,” said Lillian Shapiro, Brooksby resident and Queen Mother of the Brooksby chapter. “We assumed some women would be interested, but we had no idea we would have over 100 women sign up to be in the group. We were all very excited about the birthday party.”

Texas Hold ‘Em Has a Hold on Brooksby Village Sunday, January 01, 2006
Since March of 2005, Brooksby residents have been playing Texas Hold ‘Em, currently the most popular poker game in the world. In Texas Hold ‘Em, each player is dealt two cards down. Bets are placed, then three cards are dealt up which are community cards that everyone uses to make their best hand. Bets are placed again and two more cards are individually dealt up with a round of betting after each, although at Brooksby, it’s really not about the small stakes betting.

Brooksby Village Presents Sunday, January 01, 2006
Just when you think they’ve done it all, Brooksby residents will do something even more extraordinary—like put on a full-production theatrical play. In late November, four performances of Morland Cary’s Love Rides the Rails hit the stage—with a cast of 14 people, all Brooksby residents.
