Third clubhouse expands options for community members

The definition of a keystone is the large central stone of an arch that locks all of the parts together.

The new clubhouse at Ann’s Choice—which bears the same name—serves a similar purpose.

Ann’s Choice has opened the community’s third community building, the Keystone Clubhouse, this past month. Already it’s bringing residents together under one roof for a wide range of pursuits.

“It’s where residents can start the day, meet with friends, stop by the marketplace to pick up any necessities, or plan their trips and activities for the week. It’s the hub for the community,” Retirement Counselor Marie Dmoch says. “Another clubhouse gives more options to all of our residents—another restaurant, lounge, or place to hold club meetings.”

The Keystone Clubhouse also has new features that the other two clubhouses do not offer.

Room to spread out
The main feature of the first floor of the building is a large, multi-purpose room that can seat more than 300 people.

“It really gives the residents room to spread out, and another venue to host a variety of performances, large clubs, and events.” Dmoch explains.

Inside the doors of the ground floor is a new marketplace shop with a variety of personal essentials residents can buy without leaving the campus.

“There is already a marketplace at Ann’s Choice, but this one is closer and helps serve the residents who live nearby,” says Retirement Counselor Donna Donohue. “The first floor also includes a marketing office and an employee lounge.”

‘Around the grand staircase’
“The second floor is the cherry on top of the sundae,” Donohue says. “It is all for the residents.”

The second floor of the clubhouse features the Garden Room restaurant, which can seat more than 220 residents for dinner. Behind the kitchen doors is a state-of-theart, fully outfitted kitchen.

There are plenty of places to unwind too, Dmoch says. For example, those who want a pre-dinner cocktail can stop by the Acorn Pub and bistro next to the restaurant. While enjoying a cocktail, they can chat with friends in the lounge, listen to a few tunes on the piano, or catch a quick game in the billiards area.

Enrichment just down the hall
“It’s all centered around the grand staircase,” Dmoch adds.

The new clubhouse also has some features to help expand your intellect and creative side as well. On the second floor are a creative arts studio and a music classroom.

“Community members take classes and hold their club meetings there,” Donohue explains. “Already, it’s a rarity if those rooms are empty.”

Breaking it in
At the end of June, the new clubhouse had its first big opportunity to show what it was capable of.

It served as home to the biggest party on campus—the Ann’s Choice Benevolent Care Fund Gala. The theme of the huge charity party, held throughout the Keystone Clubhouse, was “Around the World in Eighty Days,” and featured a number of rooms decorated in the style of San Francisco, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, China, and Morocco.

Guests had the opportunity to enjoy extraordinary culinary delights, from hors d’oeuvres to desserts, while checking out the new Keystone Clubhouse.

“It was like selling tickets to a rock concert,” says Susan Abtouche, gift planning coordinator and chair of the Ann’s Choice gala. “Everyone wanted to participate in the event and got the chance to see the new clubhouse all decked out. It went smashingly. It was quite a happening.”
