A few months ago the Ann’s Choice Sit -N- Stitch Club wanted to give a warm welcome to residents who would be moving to the community’s Renaissance Gardens for rehab or skilled nursing services.
So the 30 member club began knitting and crocheting afghans for the residents to receive as they move into Renaissance Gardens. And so far, the club has donated over 20 handmade afghans to the Ann’s Choice residents at Renaissance Gardens “And we hope there are more coming,” club member Doris Chism says. “We thought it would be a nice thing to do.”
Sit-N-Stitch members are already involved in volunteering their needle services in a number of other ways. The group also crochets, knits new blankets, hats, and gloves for distribution to economically disadvantaged individuals through New Clothes for New Tomorrows, a national non-profit organization located next to Ann’s Choice.
And each week, a group of volunteers from the Ann’s Choice Sit-N-Stitch group either knit or mend articles of clothing for the charity too.
Thrilled with the results of their new endeavor, the Sit-NStitch volunteers are continuing to make the blankets, and plan to do so for every person who arrives at Renaissance Gardens.
