Priority List touted as ‘best option’ for future

Ann’s Choice is already among the most popular of Erickson’s 18 retirement communities across the nation. Community officials announced in January that the demand for homes has been overwhelming.

Retirement Counselor Marie Dmoch says that over 95% of the completed homes are sold out. Additionally, over 50% of the new homes currently being built are already reserved. Those homes will open for residents in the spring of 2007.

“We’ve seen an unbelievable response. It’s taken a real effort to keep up with the requests for Information Kits and tours,” Dmoch says. “Reservations are being made at a record pace.”

The community is averaging approximately 1,100 requests for information each month and gives almost 200 tours of the community a month to those who are interested in moving to Ann’s Choice.

Seeing is believing
Retirement Counselor Donna Donohue explains it this way, “When we announced we were opening a third clubhouse this past November, it really got everyone’s attention. People love what they see when they tour the campus, from the conveniences to the friendly people. Plus I’m sure they are running into the wonderful people that live and work here out in the community, too.” She continued, “The word is definitely out on what a special place Ann’s Choice is.”

Ann’s Choice, in Warminster, Pa, advertises a well-manicured, maintenance- free lifestyle for working class retirees. All Erickson communities feature glass-enclosed, climate- controlled walkways connecting buildings to spacious clubhouses filled with restaurants, social clubs, and a variety of conveniences.

‘Stacking the deck’
Dmoch says that if someone is considering Ann’s Choice, their best opportunity to get the home of their choice is by joining the community’s Priority List. The list reserves a person’s place in line and gives them the first right of refusal when the style of their choice becomes available.

“The race is definitely to the swift,” Donohue says. “Every day that someone waits to join the Priority List, one or two people jump in line ahead of them. If people are considering Ann’s Choice for next year, or even five years down the line, they should take a look at our free Information Kit and join the Priority List as soon as possible.”

She adds, “Some apartment styles have wait times of several years. The Priority List is really your best option for getting the home you want. It’s like stacking the deck in your favor.”

“It’s definitely moving fast,” Executive Director Joe LoCascio says. “We are pleased with the interest in the community. It’s going even faster than we had anticipated. Each day we’re accepting more and more reservations.”

A new view of retirement
Currently over 18,000 people call an Erickson community home in ten states throughout the United States.

The founder and CEO of Erickson, John Erickson, has been a pioneer in retirement campus living for over 25 years.

“The idea is to reshape America’s negative image of aging,” Erickson says of his vision. To accomplish that goal, Erickson has created on-campus health care systems for better living. He recently donated $5 million to help found the Erickson School on Aging at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Erickson also created Retirement Living TV, new television programming directed specifically for the retirement age audience. Retirement Living TV can be seen on Comcast Channel 8 Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.
