For the past year Heidi Ryder, who’s a member of Ann’s Choice transportation department, has enjoyed getting to know what she likes to call “the amazing residents” of this bustling Bucks County community.

“I started here last September and I’m continually inspired by the people who live here at Ann’s Choice,” says Heidi. “They are some of the most active, enthusiastic people I’ve ever met.”

Heidi and her husband, Bill, discovered that first-hand when they accompanied 30 residents on a 10-day tour of the Canadian Rockies this past May.

“It was a pretty hectic schedule,” says Heidi. “We stayed in different hotels almost every night and our mode of  transportation was almost everything you can imagine in order to really experience the beautiful scenery.”

That included seeing the Canadian Rockies via the Mountaineer Rail Line, a seaplane, a helicopter, a ferry, a gondola, a lake boat, and even white water rafting.

Beauty You Can’t Beat
“We visited so many beautiful places, we’ll never forget it,” says Heidi. “The white-water rafting may have been one of the most exciting. These were real rapids, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Lots of people also like Victoria Island and Chateau Lake Louise.”

“When I moved here didn’t know anyone. I had no idea they had these kinds of extended trips,” says Audrey Rheiner, who has traveled to a number of great destinations with Ann’s Choice. “You never have to worry about your home while you’re gone. Plus, Ann’s Choice handles all the details of the trip. You don’t have to worry about making arrangements, you just enjoy yourself.”

And in case there’s ever a medical emergency while traveling with Ann’s Choice, doctors far and wide can contact the  community’s medical staff and get up-to-date medical information through Centricity, the community’s confidential electronic medical records system.

“By giving doctors instant access and confidential access to your medical history and medications, regardless of the time or day, it can help save a life,” says Donna Donohue, Ann’s Choice retirement counselor. “It’s peace of mind, even when you travel.”

What’s Your Travel Destination?
More and more people continue to move to Ann’s Choice because it provides greater independence. Woody Smedley, who moved to Ann’s Choice this past year, says he’s doing more traveling because everything is taken care of while he’s gone.

“Before, if I went on vacation I would spend the whole time thinking about my house, listening to weather reports and worrying that it was O.K.,” he says. Now, I can travel wherever I want and not have to worry about anything.”

Heidi says that if you want to experience just a little of what traveling with Erickson is like, try a day trip.

“I’ve taken groups to places like Atlantic City for the day,” she says. “That’s a great destination for someone who really wants to get a sense of the type of fun, carefree people who live here at Ann’s Choice.”

During the summer, Heidi took a group to historic Macinac Island, on the northern Michigan peninsula. Still, the trip to the Canadian Rockies remains her favorite.

“When I joined Ann’s Choice, I never realized all the inspiring people I would meet and the fabulous places I would get to travel to,” Heidi says. “It’s given me a whole new outlook about  life and living it to the fullest.”
