THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
When someone in their twenties talks about “going clubing”, they usually mean dancing at various night clubs all night long. At Ann’s Choice, Bucks County’s premier community for people 62-plus, the club scene may not involve dancing all night at a disco. But, then again, it could.
“We’ve got a few clubs for dancing here,” says Tony Fabiani, a resident and ambassador at Ann’s Choice along with his wife, Barbara. “My wife loves to dance. So we’ve got line dancing, square dancing, you name it.”
“Ann’s Choice has at least 75 clubs that anyone can join,” says Donna Donohue, retirement counselor. “This is a unique setting. We not only have more amenities than other communities, the number of clubs also is impressive.”
“Barbara and I each belong to a fair number of clubs,” says Tony. “We’re so busy with fun activities, we have to keep a calendar.”
Antiques to Computers, Poker to Pottery, Woodcarving and More
So why are there so many clubs when some communities have hardly any? Tony believes it’s as simple as the type of people who gravitate toward Ann’s Choice.
“We have a very active group of people here,” Tony says. “I can’t even name one club that people do not participate a lot in. No matter what kind of club, they always get solid attendance. People just want to enjoy themselves and Ann’s Choice gives you every opportunity to pursue the things you love.”
Marie Dmoch, Ann’s Choice retirement counselor, agrees. “The fun, festive atmosphere exudes enthusiasm. So we go out of our way to accommodate residents when they have an idea for a club.”
Bocce, Bocce, Bocce
A case in point in accommodating requests is the bocce club. As one of the community’s more popular clubs with about 80 members, the staff at Ann’s Choice has responded to the growing number of bocce members by building two bocce courts.
