To say that Dana and Phyllis Stahlberger had their eyes on Ann’s Choice is an understatement. “We first took a look at Ann’s Choice when it opened a few years ago,” says Phyllis. “We knew then Ann’s Choice was a perfect fit.”

The Stahlbergers had 5- 1/2 acres of land just north of Doylestown, Pa., that took a lot of their time. Dana did a fair share of hunting and other outdoor activities, while Phyllis tended to three gardens on their property.

“When you’ve got all that land and a big house like we did, I call that ‘hard work,’” laughs Dana. “So we got on the Priority List and put ourselves in position for the perfect home.”

The “perfect” home, according to Phyllis, was a ground floor corner home. Since there are only four sides to a building, the Stahlbergers used their Priority List position to secure the home of their dreams.

“We felt good about having our name on the Priority List, and it put us in a position to make choices,” says Dana. “We really liked Ann’s Choice.”

The Ann’s Choice Advantage

Dana points out that the 100% Refundable Entrance Deposit was something they hadn’t seen before. “That really caught our eye. I mean the idea that Erickson doesn’t keep our money when we pass away and that our children or estate get it, is really something. That’s an incredible advantage over most other communities.”

With three children and six grandchildren close by, the Stahlbergers also like the location as well as the lay of the land. The bustling, 103- acre gated community that’s also located next to the Township Park made the transition from all that land, to a home at Ann’s Choice much easier.

“Then, during the summer Ann’s Choice announced the opening of Taylor Crossing and we were able to get the corner home we were looking for, plus the style of home as well,” says Dana.

The home the Stahlbergers got was The  Jackson, a beautiful twobedroom, two-bath corner home with large windows.

“We get a lot of good light, especially in the kitchen where we’ve got two sets of windows,” says Dana. “The apartment is wonderful. We really like hanging out in the kitchen, and outside the putting green is close by.”

A New, Maintenance-Free Life

Having moved to Ann’s Choice on October 28, the Stahlbergers have quickly started enjoying their new lifestyle.

“I have to say, probably the biggest reason I wanted to move here was the maintenance- free living,” says Dana. “When you have a house and yard, maintaining it was a constant chore. We had gardens, grass, and woods so there was always something that needed work. I’m so used to doing things myself, this is a pleasant change. Especially now with the weather colder.”

In addition to having more time to enjoy life and less need to roll up their sleeves, the Stahlbergers are beginning to get more involved in their new community.

“There are a lot of clubs that we’re looking into,” says Dana. “We haven’t joined any yet, but I enjoy cards so I’ll probably join the poker and pinochle clubs. Phyllis loves gardening. And we both love exercise. I go to the Fitness Center and she likes to swim. There are plenty of things to do, that’s for sure.”

What About the People?

“The people are great here,” says Dana. “We haven’t met a single grouch in the whole bunch!” But, perhaps, the biggest thing the Stahlbergers have noticed is they can still enjoy the same activities they did at their old house.

“I just got back from hunting, so that hasn’t changed,” says Dana. “And Phyllis will be able to garden here. Like anything, it’ll take a little time to get used to our new lifestyle, but we’re looking forward to it. We’re hoping to go to Florida in March and we like the idea that we can just shut our door and know our home will be safe and secure. That’s a great feeling.”

For the Stahlbergers, Ann’s Choice continues to be quite an eye opener.
