at Brooksby Village in Massachusetts

Trained at the Museum School in Boston, Eleanor Ferri Jones has been involved in many facets of art: experimenting with various media to sketch and paint; dabbling in pottery, sculpture, monoprinting, and copper enameling; running art shows; and organizing an art club on her beloved Cape Cod.

The recipient of more than 100 awards, she is represented in public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad.

Jones has set up her easel from Russia to Portugal, spending long vacations in southern Europe and in America from California to the Midwest and Florida, as well as her native New England.

“Art has always been an important part of my life,” she says. “I’ve always been involved with it. It’s my idea of immortality.”

Her style: “Impressionism . . . lots of color, somewhat abstract.”

Her inspiration: “Cezanne. He first inspired me when I was going to the Museum School.”

Her Brooksby paintings: “I did a series of very colorful, very happy portraits of Brooksby, showing the happy side of our community. I love my apartment here, and even convinced my sister to live here, too!”

Why she paints: “I love to paint directly from nature, to make my statement from glimpses of this beautiful world of ours—be it the subtle hues of Cape Cod sand and marsh or the brilliance of tropical flowers singing to the sunshine of southern Europe. I try to let the excitement of my visual experience flow through me, playing with color and form as a poet does with words, in an effort to communicate that joy to others!”jonespainting.jpg
